Mixing Tips

General

  • Start with the cheapest ingredients (the syrup) first.

Glassware

  • A chilled glass keeps your drink longer and more enjoyable. Your used ice will melt slower, and the taste will stay longer.

Technique

  • While pressing the citrus fruit, for example, lemon or lime. You could use the pressed fruit and give it into the shaker as a fragrant ingredient. It will release some of the oils while shaking the drink. After you better double-strain it.
  • If you double-strain the drink after shaking it, it will prevent those tiny particles of the herbs or spices from floating on top of the guest's glass.

Garnish

  • Be careful and confident if you want to zest a citrus fruit with a zest peeler!
  • If you cut a fruit zest into an excellent shape. You could add the slight leftover zest to your drink. It will release some more oils while shaking the drink.

Editor Recipe Notes

For the Cosmopolitan, we are using fresh lime juice. We cut the lime in half and squeezed it in a hand press squeezer. To add the extra taste to the drink, we add the juice and the squeezed pericarp.
Additionally once we prepared the garnish, the orange peel, we used the leftover cut fruit and added if also into the drink.
Now you got lime and orange oils in your drink. While shaking, you can release more of them. And your drink will be even more delicious after that.
