The combination of Akvavit, Orange Bitter, and Rooibos Vanilla Tea is a flavor bomb =)

ingredients

  • 50 ml
    aalborg jubiläums akvavit (Akvavit)
  • 20 ml
    lemon juice fresh (lemon juice)
  • 30 ml
    Samova Orange Safari Roiboos Vanilla Tea (rooibos tea)
  • 20 ml
    simple syrup (1:1) homemade (sugar syrup)
  • 3 dashes
    the bitter truth orange bitter (Orange Bitters)
how to mix:
Brew the tea and let it cool down. Remove the tea herbs from the water. And keep the strong brew refrigerated. Pour all ingredients into the shaker. Shake until chilled and fine-strain into a serving glass, with no ice inside. Add your garnish.
garnish:
1x orange twist
Press the oils out of the citrus peel by squeezing the zest over the serving glass. Drop the garnish into the drink.

detailed mixing instructions

  1. Brew the tea.
  2. Let the tea sit for a while until it is cooled down to room temperature.
  3. Remove the tea herbs from the water. And keep the strong brew refrigerated.
  4. Chill the serving glass with either crushed ice or ice cubes. Or place it in a fridge or freezer.
  5. Prepare your Mise en Place.
  6. Prepare your bottle setup.
  7. Prepare your garnish.
  8. Pour all ingredients into the shaker.
  9. Add ice cubes into the shaker
  10. Shake for about 20 seconds.
  11. Take the chilled glass out of the fridge/freezer. If you used ice to chill the serving glass, remove everything from the glass.
  12. Double-Strain the mixed liquid into the chilled serving glass with no ice inside.
  13. Add your garnish.
  14. Clean up your working station.

The “De Danske” Cocktail was one of my really first signature drinks. That I’m really proud of it. The recipe itself is very simple. However, the combination of Akvavit, Orange, Rooibos, and Vanilla as a Short drink, served in a Coupette, is a real crowd-pleaser. You get even more flavor if you just shake the cut orange peel with it. And you will really not notice that 50ml of liquor is inside the drink. It’s smooth, and everybody can mix this drink at home.
