The product
In 2014 SLYRS master distiller Hans Kemenater and his team took about fifty selected whisky casks up the ski lift to 1,501 metres, onto the summit of the Stümpfling above the Schliersee. The Mountain Edition matures there for five years, in the purest mountain air and temperature swings of up to 60 degrees, which give it a clear, intense taste and unusual spice. It is light golden yellow, smells of bourbon vanilla, caramel and burnt almonds, tastes intense, spicy and dry with light peppery notes, and finishes long, lightly smoky and sweet-fruity. 45 % vol, 0.7 l.
